Kimolos Mythology
During the 1st century AD an earthquake separated the island of Milos in two smaller islands known today as Milos and Kimolos. According to mythology Kimolos was named after its first inhabitant Kimolos who married Side, the daughter of Poseidon, the Greek God of the Sea. Side (from the Greek work sideros meaning iron) was associated with metals and minerals, giving reason to why the island is filled with deposits of all kinds of minerals and semi-precious stones forming an astonishing silver like coastline.  The island of Kimolos is like a myth too: unequaled natural beauties and landscapes of pristine tranquility.
