Serifos Island Getaway
Saturday Morning and the port of Serifos looked just like heaven! The island was my weekend escape after a hard working winter and right before my annual summer holidays.
Wondering what could someone do for only 2 days on an island, I answered myself “really, not that much”!But that proved to be so untrue!
Beaches paradise
72 beaches to explore… So the choice of the best 2 was indeed difficult, but at the end so much worth it! The popular and well known Psili Ammos beach was my first swim. A nice small beach with white sand and clear turquoise blue waters. The next day we visited Vagia beach in Koutalas. The emerald waters and the cliff around the sea is a heaven for snorkeling. There are countless amazing places to swim in Serifos: sandy or pebbled beaches, exotic coves, underwater caves, all with crystal clear waters and an extreme natural beauty.
Gastronomy secrets
After enjoying the sea and sun, you cannot accept something less than an excellent traditional tavern of Greek cuisine & fresh fish. Aloni in Hora and Stamatis in Livadi were the perfect choices. Delicious dishes, traditional Greek cuisine and fresh fish, just like most places to eat in Serifos. On Saturday night, in Serifos Hora, we enjoyed amazing cocktails at Aerino bar and had a great time until early in the morning. I so much wish to have more days for fun on this Cycladic jewel next summer!
Sightseeing Hotspots
The picturesque narrow streets of Serifos Hora and the breathtaking view from this traditional Cycladic settlement is an excellent choice for a Saturday afternoon walk before entering the island’s vivid nightlife. Saturday morning at the Church of the Koimisis, a well preserved 10th century domed church with 12th century frescos, is, without a doubt, one of the best places to visit on the island.
And after all this, the departure came late on Sunday afternoon!48 hours is not enough time but this short escape proved to be such a sweet and unforgettable experience of a 2-day exploring and relaxing on a charming, authentic Cycladic island.
