This summer, French Vogue sails to Greece!
This year’s June/July edition of Vogue Paris is painted in Greek Mediterranean Blue. The world’s most influential fashion magazine, predominated by Greek vitality and illuminated by Greek light pays tribute to Greece, uncovering the beauties of its islands, myths, heroes and pleasures.
The June/July edition features the Brazilian model Isabeli Fontana flooded in Greek Mediterranean blue hues dressed in a strapless organza dress by Dior. A multipage tribute continues inside with a colorful photo shoot titled, ‘It’s Summer, Vogue focuses on Greece: a destination and sensation’ by the famous fashion photographer, Cedric Buchet. Styled in colorful pieces by Prada, Moschino and Emilio Pucci, Isabeli and male model Clement Chabernaud illustrate the sensual Greek summer sensation. While the second photo shoot, entitled, ‘Blue Paradise’ reveals the beauties of Milos Island whilst displaying the creations of international designers Rodarte, Diane von Furstenburg, Prada and the famous Greek jeweler, Ilias Lalaounis.
The beauty section features the best eco-chic Spa with botanical products proposing Greece as a wellness destination and reinforcing the idea that Greece has nothing to be jealous of other exotic destinations.
“Since 2009, it floats between city and the sky, glowing like a beacon in the chaos of the night”, a quote referring to the Acropolis Museum, in an article dedicated to Greek Profiles: memorable places including Greek islands, personalities like John Cassavetes, Elia Cazan, Athina Onassis and legend Greek-myth-inspired shootings of Herb Ritts and other icon photographers.
The tribute continues with a special photo-journal travel article by Greek novelist Ersi Sotiropoulos during her travels through the Peloponnese and Tinos. “The villages mark the musical rhythm of a recurrent short story in centuries with hidden beaches, flowers in rocks. There is also a village called Agapi, love…”.
Brand new hotel Kinsterna, in Monemvasia Peloponesse, also, is presented as a well kept secret for Athenians.
A special tribute has also been made to the island of Hydra, recalling the famous dolce vitas of the 70’s of Jackie O, Leonard Cohen and Bridgette Bardot who visited the ‘heaven of the artists and dreamers’.
French Vogue journalists, Violaine Binet and Pierre Groppo present contemporary Greece, culture and lifestyle with profiles of the new Argonauts: Eugenie Niarchos, Greek contemporary art gallery owner Rebecca Camhi and Crysanthos Panas, owner of the first private club in Athens and most of the trendiest nightlife spots in Athens. Meanwhile, Carole Sabas writes a profile on Isabelle Kountoure, renowned fashion stylist with Greek origin.
