Athens was the hot spot last weekend due to the 29th classic Marathon.
Sunday morning and the roads along the blue line were closed, leaving the citizens of this noisy capital with a big smile on their faces.
The participants, who soon filled the streets, were people from all around the globe who came to Greece not only for the Marathon but also for the unforgettable experience this event offers each year.
Many were accompanied by their kids, family or even pets!
Special appearances like a Greek goddess, a dog “runner” and a man without shoes where there too..
Despite the cold weather and the slight rain, many people were there to encourage participants and give them a little boost!
This year’s winner was Morrocan BOUBKER ABDELKERIM who finished in 2hrs 11 mins and 40 sec. In the second and third place were two Kenyans: Sami Tsuba and Daniel Diritu. Our Demetris Theodorakakos came in 7th place.
Besides, in the end all that matters is trying!
