The International Worker’s Day in Greece is celebrated with the festival of flowers, attesting the rebirth of nature after the long winte sleep. Greeks collect flowers from the valleys and create the flower wreath of May which is hanged outside their houses until June 24th, the birth date of Saint John the Baptist.
On that day big fires are made throughout the country for the burning of the wreaths. It is tradition to jump over these fires wishing for a good harvest.
Cycladia wishes you Happy May Day!
